| “Encore”
Today
has been one of the saddest, most best days I've had in a long time.
Encore has been great this far. I have learned so
much about older people in the past few days. I am happy
to say that I am going to be sorry to see these courageous people
leave my life in such a short period of time. The best part
about Encore is the one on one sharing that we do with an older
person of our choice. I have been able to talk about the
things that I have not even thought about talking about with others.
I have been able to express myself in ways I have not been
able to do in a long time. I just write today to say Encore
is great.

You
can be fat, thick or thin
But
we're all the same, deep within
People
look and judge, tryin' to claim the fame
If
they only knew how our pains were the same
Yeah,
we all have our troubles but I give major props
To
us that's overcoming them
When
you're able to say I'm over that
It's
just the best feeling ever
We
all have special talents and we should all be proud
If
you're wanting to find yours, join something-maybe something like
this
Encore
can help you feel not alone
But
only if you're willing to learn that you're NOT alone
Maybe
you have some insecurity that you think no one else has
But
if you just ask around, I bet there's someone feeling just like
you

"I
really want to say thank you. This Encore program changed my whole
life. It changed my attitudes towards pretty much everything. My
time here was going really bad before I attended Encore. Now I'm
doing really well. I try to treat everyone respectfully and I'm
overall a lot happier, and it all started with the people of Encore.
I mean just having people listen to what's going on in my life and
actually care. I really feel Encore is part of my family. I love
you all. That's why I want to say thank you. What you do is incredible.
You make it all happen."

Elders
have amazed me the whole of my life
Their
wisdom is vast-they see lessons in strife
Their
gray hair's a crown for people to see
Their
roots are so deep - there's great strength in thee
I
make sure to listen when they're teachin' a lesson
Cause
I know it can help me whenever I'm stressin'
They
have many answers, yet how little we ask
Instead
we all hide behind the “I am fine” mask
But
we don't really fool ‘em - they know what is true
Because
they have most likely been in our shoe
That's
why Encore's special and so very unique
It's
crew are fine people - impossible to critique
They
do this with love and because they care
That's
why they get serious and leave themselves bare
They
trust we won't dis them or ever be mean
It
seems we're a hope of theirs, even a dream
They
dream they can help us to maybe live better
And
for that we owe them a thank you forever
