Teenagers Rap

This
culture is obsessed with youth!
I
don’t get it– that’s the truth
Lookin’ around
I have to say
A
lot was different, back in the day
Wasn’t
much money anywhere
And
a kid with money was really rare
Now
there’s cell phones, name brand clothes
I
had no clue ‘bout any of those
Well,
I had clothes, but they weren’t risque’
Saw
a lot less skin than you do today
Phones & cars,
I guarantee
Just
one of each per family
Dad
went to work & Mom stayed home
The
neighborhood was safe to roam
Safer
now to stay indoors
Mom & Dad
may be divorced
Sex & drugs
were not complex:
Ya
didn’t even mention sex
The
only drugs I ever met
Were
a couple of beers & a cigarette
But
that’s all superficial, dude
Still
had a teenage attitude
Ya
know peer pressure? That’s not new
Fittin’ in
then was a big deal, too
Kept
our hopes & fears inside
Hormones
took us for a ride
Parents
didn’t understand
Life
was sucky;
life
was grand
The
bottom line is we were teens
With
all the ups & downs that means
And
the basic issues tend to stay
So
it’s
prob’ly sucky & grand today! |
