I've
been a member of Encore since January, 2000. I was born in Dallas,
Texas, in 1939, to two people with wonderful senses of humor and
a love for storytelling.
My
passions for music and sports developed early. I sang with my mother,
a fine piano player, and played ball with the neighborhood kids.
Eventually I went to college and graduate school, and left Texas
behind, graduating from the University of Iowa with a Masters in
Clinical Psychology.
Then
began the next passion in my life, working with people to make changes
and search for meaning in their lives. That work, enriching beyond
words to me, came to a close just before I joined Encore.
I married in 1962 and seven years later had a son; he and I share
enthusiasm for music, sports, ideas, and relationships. Redefining
my life after divorce has been central to the past fifteen years,
along with singing more, playing as much tennis as my body can stand
(sometimes more), and performing small parts in local theatre productions.
Encore
gives me an opportunity to bring together many threads important
to me, and to find new directions, people, and ideas that are exciting
and challenging. |
