SONG LYRICS

Lydia Lord is a Eugene musician, song-writer, and actress who has been active in local theatre for over 30 years. Her first composition, "Sing For the Joy of It," was selected as the theme song of the local Women’s Choral Society. She also wrote the music for two shows, "Earth People Looking at Sky" at Actors Cabaret of Eugene and "Stepping Out" at the Very Little Theatre.

Ms. Lord has designed and accompanied musical revues at Lane Community College, the Treehouse Restaurant, Oregon Repertory Theatre, the Very Little Theatre, and Mainstage Theatre/Actors Cabaret. She has also served as accompanist and musical director for 67 shows, most recently "70 Girls, 70!" at the Very Little Theatre, and "The Club" at Actors Cabaret. She directed the musicals "Damn Yankees" and "Fiorello!" at the Very Little Theatre, and an original revue "It’s Cole Outside," for Mainstage Theatre. Onstage, favorite roles include Ouisa in "Six Degrees of Separation" and Madame Arcati in "Blithe Spirit".

Ms. Lord grew up in Eugene, attending local schools and the University of Oregon, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology. She worked as a copywriter for several advertising agencies before returning to the university for post-graduate work. After completing the Master’s program, she worked as a counselor for a local addiction treatment facility, and later in private practice.

Since October of 1997 she has been a part of the Encore Theatre troupe, writing songs for the show based on the performers’ lives, and accompanying all of the first season’s performances. She looks forward to a lifelong involvement with Encore!
