War II

Lord
We
all remember World War Two
The biggest war we ever knew
And some of us would say it was the last good fight
It's easy to go to battle when you know you're right
Of course we were afraid, but we were more excited
And it was just amazing how the country all united
We had a job to do
And all together we would see it through
(spoken lines)
H: I met my future husband when he came home from the war
D: The soldiers were my heroes, to worship and adore
Lo: Remember Pearl Harbor, and searchlights in the sky
M. And how I felt the day I learned my brother didn't die
D: With blackouts at the windows
E: Propaganda in the air
C: And bombs along the coast
The war was not just "Over There"
N: I helped my dad with his war work, though I was just a kid
W: I built the planes at Lockheed, like Rosie the Riveter did
So we remember it with pride
It's good to be the winning side
But while we can applaud our part in that one war
We need to remember just what we were fighting for
Intolerance and hatred deserve to be defeated
And we will keep on working to be sure they're not repeated
We've got a job to do
And all together--we can see-- it --through! |
